Aaaand we continue on with the cluelessly insulting commentary, but what's a guy gonna do with no choice but to follow?

Another beautiful page. Love the layout. My rereading of Prydain continues--I just finished The Castle of Llyr the other day.

My favorite one! I dream of getting to adapt that one but I'm not holding my breath.

I know, it's a shame. But my imagination fills in what's going on with her, and it's the most overtly romantic of the books and well what can I say. I'm a sap for that stuff.

I laughed my ass off at panel three. Taran's expression reminds of a meme, I think, but I can't quite place it... Either way. perfect expression!

LOL I aspire one day to create something as awesome as the Condescending Wonka meme, but haven't found just the right topic yet.

Yay! Update! Who knew a tunnel under an old castle could be made of such beautiful rock? Also, as Joeyballast said, Taran's expression in panel four is priceless! Can't wait to see where you take this!

LOL well, I don't know how pretty it really is, but if there's any mica or quartz in there it would sparkle as the light moved.
I enjoy this chapter, because it gives me a chance to ad-lib some dialog as they walk. Text says Eilonwy chatters constantly but doesn't elaborate, so...wide-open for me to play. :)

Not particularly, though if I were to stumble upon something that tickled my fancy I'd made the time.

You should check out the Monster Blood Tattoo Series (also called the Foundlings Tale series). Lloyd Alexander reviewed it very highly. It's a masterpiece of storytelling and world building.

Welcome back! I love that you've got the breathing room to expand on Eilonwy's chatter -- especially since you have such a great ear for her.
And the revised page looks great -- thanks for going the extra mile to do that establishing shot!

Aw, thanks - me too! Love these scenes; it's only for a few chapters here that she gets to be the one pushing the plot forward so I'm milking that for all it's worth.

It occurs to me that Eilonwy was probably one of the influences (conscious or otherwise) on J. K. Rowling's creation of Hermione Granger. We know Rowling is a fan of Lloyd Alexander's work -- she's mentioned in interviews that Florian Fortescue, owner of the ice cream shop in Diagon Alley, was named after the Florian from the Westmark series, and I doubt one reader of that series in a hundred hasn't also read the Prydain Chronicles. Hermione, especially in the first couple of books, has a tendency to show off her intellect and put people down as a way of masking loneliness and insecurity, which I think is part of the reason Eilonwy tends to do the same thing.

I'm going back and rereading sections of this. I have to say once again: you capture facial expressions really, really well. Taran's annoyed grimace at the "cluelessly insulting commentary" and E's smirk at the end. Fantastic.
