BAZINGA. I actually made my deadline! (For those of us on the crazy western side of the Atlantic, anyhow.)
I had a little too much fun with glowy hair strands on this one, but it can't be helped now.
Note all the extra y's and l's in the last sound effect to give things that authentic Welsh flavor. Another authentic detail: E's first line, which refers to a real folk/pagan belief that you can cleanse a place of evil spirits by spitting beans at them. Lloyd Alexander did his research.
E's face, panel 3: "Darlin you might as well learn now that the girl is Always Right."
Yes. I enjoyed this page.
Mr. Alexander always does his research and we love him for it. Great expressions on this page!
He definitely knew how to make his worlds feel "real".
I really like the belief that spitting beans cleanses evil spirits. I imagine that the spirits would just back away going 'ew! They're spitting at me! Ewewew!'
And there's nothing wrong with taking extra time onlittle hair strands. Hair's one of those things where the more detail there is the better.
I'm still betting on a monster that's just making windy noises to lure the kids into a trap. This is becoming less and less likely, however...
Hahaha now I need to do a one-off cartoon of ghosts running from flying beans, moaning "ew, ew!" That visual...
their faces in the third panel! LOVE IT :3
I love the opportunity to start establishing a sense of their friendship just through visual means. So much fun.
sssoooooo beautiful *O*
*slumps to the ground and cries*
lol oh girl. Don't even.
The last panel is so cute! I would love to spit beans at ghosts I just... have to... find the ghosts?
I don't think I'd go looking for them, myself...
Wow, that panel 3. This whole page, really. Such great expressions.
And I guess spitting beans at Welsh ghosts is akin to using balls of sticky rice to get rid of Japanese vampires.
Ha! That's a new one to me. What is it with food and paranormal creatures?
