Love how he just impulsively runs off without even checking to see whether she is following him. But remembers to grab a sword, because, you know, priorities.
Chivalry: fail.

I just love how you bring these characters and this story alive. I generally don't always love fan versions of things because they change the way I see the characters in my head. But your version IS the way I see the characters of Prydain. It's like watching my thoughts drawn on paper. Keep going, you amazing person you!

Aw. :) That really thrills me. I love that everyone has such a clear vision of the characters. There's no one version that will satisfy everybody, but I am 100% invested in every design decision I make with them, and that sincerity, I think, communicates with the viewer - so that even for folks whose mental image is different, they can still really connect with my interpretation. At least that is my hope.

Niiiiice. I thought he was just being sneaky :P In order to not get scolded ;) But then...she's going to see it anyway.
I love how you use the light of her babble! You pages are all so amazing!

Taran absolutely has his priorities straight. However, I do wonder why he didn't take the awesome shiny sword. Obviously ceremonial, perhaps?
Also, he's totally gonna get his butt captured as soon as he pokes his head outside, isn't he?

I have wondered that myself. I think maybe his innate sense of honor makes him reluctant to despoil a personage of such importance.
Whether Eilonwy shares that sentiment...
Well there's just all kinds of questions waiting to be answered, aren't there?

Size, maybe? I think the one Taran grabbed is a smaller, one-handed broadsword, while Dyrnwyn is a bastard sword or greatsword that he'd have a harder time handling.

"Should I or shouldn't I...you know what, YES."
You know that's what she's thinking.

I think we should take a moment to appreciate how flail-ly Taran is in panel 3. Adorable.

He's got his hands on a real sword for the first time in his life! Of course he is flail-y! lol

Haven't commented for a few pages, but still loving every bit of this. And yes, that panel 3 Eilonwy is wonderful.
My mental pictures of the characters are very similar to yours, which makes this even more of a delight. My one exception is Gurgi, which for some reason (not really supported by the text) my young mind imagined him as kind of an ape crossed with Sesame Street's Grover. I think it was his speech patterns that sent me in that direction. I've always heard him voice by Frank Oz, even before I knew who Frank Oz was.

As a fan of Sesame Street, Frank Oz, and Grover in particular, I can totally sympathize with that interpretation.

*lol* he picked a sword - and is super exited - though will he fall down the cliff?
Awww... why is Eilonwy so sad?

I meant in panel three while he is running away Eilonwy is looking sad/pensive/regretful?

Agh so pretty. >.> And man she is definitely not quite ready to leave. Idk if she wants to stay longer with the dead guy or if she is genuinely worried about what's out there.

Taran should join the archaeology class of Indiana Jones. Frame #3 illustrates Indy's guiding principle #1: "When raiding a tomb, don't leave the girl unattended!"
