Happy new year!
Methinks this is the beginning of a long friendship filled with Taran just 'not getting it'.

"Well you don't have to agree with me so quickly!"
Finally, one of my favorite lines in the whole series.

LOL yeah. She really wanted him to grovel some more. He's just going to frustrate her no matter what.

I always thought it was more that she was surprised he didn't argue more and insist he was right

Could be. If her main experience in arguing is with Achren, most likely she has no prepared reaction to someone's actually apologizing and backing down.

I love that bit. Eilonwy recognizes something in Taran there -- she seems a little startled to realize she's not ready to give up his company.

After living what was probably a lonely life at Spiral Castle, I always thought she was probably scared of the prospect of winding up alone again.

Definitely. I mean, in my headcanon she had been planning to leave with Taran and Fflewddur anyway. She's legitimately furious with Taran, and probably would have liked him to beg for forgiveness a little more, but she also really wants to stay with them (and has nowhere else to go, after all). She just doesn't know how to accept an apology because nobody has ever modeled that for her.

*lol* Eilonwy changed her mind quickly =P
...thank you - and to you also... =)

I've been on the receiving end of those kind of arguments. "Okay, if you want me to go, I'll go." "What?! You'd leave me here all alone??"
Ah, youth.
