There were two updates last week, guys, so make sure you jump back one if you haven't already!
I love being able to take this story as slow as I like to draw out the mood/emotions. Taran's little face-wash and moment of silence here is not canon, but it presented itself as a way to communicate his physical and emotional exhaustion, and I ran with it.
I've been playing with adding soundtracks to my pages just for fun. If anybody wants the full experience, this one fits nicely if you open it in a separate window: Forest Noises
I appreciate the detail of the hole in Fflewddur's sock. Also, I love Taran's expression in the 6th panel.
Yes you know Fflewddur's probably barely held-together. I'm not altogether sure they even have knit socks at this stage...that might be a hole in his linen hose! :)
Poor Taran. I just want to snuggle him and tell him it's going to be okay.
I can only imagine the blisters ...
That said, they're like a metaphor for my sole/soul, since I've finally caught up with your excellent work, and now I shall have to wait.
ohhh, the puns, they burns us, precious.
I will try to keep the demand supplied! School starts up soon and the return to a normal schedule should help me crank these out with more consistency than I've managed over the summer.
Great last couple pages! I for one enjoy the extra bits you've added, as they bring richness to the story. Also, I think I heard you on a podcast (unless someone else is also making a Prydain graphic novel, lol) talking about the books, and was thoroughly impressed by your analysis and fandom. It's funny, I went years without thinking about these books, but now I can't get enough! In any event, keep up the good work!
Ha, yes, that was me! In a fandom this small, it's pretty easy to keep an iron in several fires, and some of mine have been burning a very long time. ;)
Thanks for the encouragement! Hope you stick around!
Wow, Taran does have a nice side to him... ;)
(*lol* how die Fflewddur get all those stones into his shoe???)
...so, are those eatable mushrooms? =O
Oh, what did Gurgi do now???
Yes, Taran actually is all nice on the inside; he's just young and inexperienced and unprepared for what he's having to handle. He does, however, know the difference between edible and toxic mushrooms! Farm kid. lol
That is Fflewddur's rock collection; he's just airing it out. ;)
As for Gurgi, you'll seen see.
Thou! I just come here to give encouraging comment. Also The Book of Three, The Black Cauldron, The Castle of Llyr, Taran Wanderer and The High King. I have read them all, but never owned any of them...
Thank you! So glad to be found by another fan of the books. Hope you enjoy! :)
I learned recently during an outdoor survival course of a local wild onion. I also learned of a plant that looks PRECISELY like this local onion except for one incredibly minor difference (which I already cannot recall) called the 'Death Camus'. Incredibly poisonous.
Takes some serious knowledge to forage I suppose is what I'm sayin'. Good for Taran.
He's not a complete fool - what a relief, no? He just hasn't had much of a chance, so far in this story, to show off what he /does/ know.
"At the moment, I don't care who catches me" I heard you, man. Feeling the same...
