Oooh, look at me, squeaking in my update with 2 hours to spare - my timezone, at least.
Poor Taran's hopes dashed again, and a surprising amount of trust in this mysterious old wolf-whisperer...but then it's not like they have much choice. Eilonwy and Fflewddur seem uncharacteristically quiet about the whole thing though.

So glad you are back! I love the closeup of Medwyn's face in this one. The stone like an extension of his own eyes. And Taran's disappointed face is touching.

Medwyn's a striking-looking guy all right! It's been fun trying to figure out what his features are.

Hi. Not sure if you remember me but I created a Taran costume for a fantasy con a while back that was partly based on your design. I still use it at the local Renn Faire. I discovered your work on DeviantArt but have been out of the loop and didn't realize the graphic novel was this far along. I will have to catch up. It looks amazing! Love the design for Medwyn.

I love that you are cosplaying Taran! Though probably nobody gets who you are, do they. Do you carry around a stuffed white pig? Glad you found the site! It's a slow process but I'm determined to see it through.

Yeah, you can see E's mind working as she looks from Taran, to Medwyn, to Fflewddur. I sort of forget a lot about this part, but I'm looking forward to rediscovering it through your take.

Yeah I think both she and Fflewddur are a little at a loss. They're not used to trusting Taran's judgement.

Taran's judgment is hit-or-miss at this stage; but he's already got all the confidence and charisma to take everyone along even if they doubt him. Medwyn probably also seems inherently trustworthy--and Gurgi really is very hurt. Love the close-up of Medwyn up top and Eilonwy's "okay, then?" expression in the last panel.

And why would they? Taran hears only Caer Dallben mentioned and rashly blurts out what he is up to - I read Eilonwy's expression here quite sceptically. But obviously, she and Fflewddur are still very shaken by the wolf assault and that's why they prefer to keep heads low so far. And if their band should yet screw it up and Medwyn let the wolves loose again, at least they'll have the usual suspect to blame.

Another update! Wonderful! And Medwyn is pretty strong to just gather up Gurgi into his arms like that. Irish wolfhounds can weigh up to 180 lbs., and I don't imagine Gurgi is any lighter.

Medwyn is strong! Text says Gurgi looks "like a squirrel" in his arms so he must be gigantic.

If I remember this part correctly this is the first time in the story where there is outside confirmation of Taran's quest for Hen Wen by an "authority" type figure. It adds a new dynamic to it. I think you captured it wonderfully.

That’s true! You can imagine Eilonwy and Fflewddur thinking.... “wait, so....Dances with Wolves over here just recognized both of those names...maybe this kid actually does know what he’s talking about.”

This makes me want to reread the series again. You deserve to make a movie trilogy like they did with Lord of the Rings.

If only! Except not a trilogy...all five books, if I had my way! Thanks for the vote of confidence!

Saeriellyn - Can't thank you enough for your work on this and for sharing it so freely. I read these books in middle school many years ago, reread them many times, and recently read them to my daughter and now my son. Obviously, the books are important to me and anyone visiting this site has been moved by them. All praise to Lloyd Alexander. As for your work, I am amazed at your skill in distilling the book in this graphic form. I'm loving every frame and eagerly awaiting future installments. Thank you thank you thank you!

It is, as always, my very great pleasure, and thank you so much for sharing your appreciation. It's words like this that keep me motivated; I probably would do it anyway because you can't suppress a passion like this, but knowing there are fans out there who love it as much as I do is such a reward. Best to you! <3

Final frame, inquisitive glance at the artist: "Hey, when will I be in the focus of your attention again?"
