This is one of those images that make me wish very hard that comicfury had a sound effects option. Handily enough, somebody on ambientmixer ALREADY made a mix called "Prydain lullaby" which I think I knew about, a long time ago - thank you, Somebody. To get the full effect, open a new window with this address: https://movies-other.ambient-mixer.com/prydain-lullaby while you gaze.
Sigh, if only we could hear it.
You can. Open a browser with this: https://movies-other.ambient-mixer.com/prydain-lullaby
While you read. :)
I read the page and then put on the lullaby and read the page again. Very nice!
It adds to it nicely! I’m going to do something similar for the next few pages.
Wow, this looks great! Also, I don't think I've mentioned this in any of my previous comments, but throughout this comic you really have illustrated the characters pretty much exactly how I had always imagined them. That's even more impressive considering that their appearances were described with varying levels of detail in the novels. There's room for interpretation, but you have have brought them to life perfectly, and totally matched what was in my mind's eye. Your art makes me more angry that we still haven't seen this on the big screen but you know, win some, lose some :)
Thank you so much for this. I’ve been struggling with discouragement and this kind of sentiment means the world. Not that I’m offended if my version doesn’t line up with other folks’ mental images - it is what it is - I’m just grateful you took the time to say it.
Yep, finally got one in there.
This is so beautiful! I was the person who made the ambient mixer and I am so honored that you linked to it! Thank you! I'm so glad that it can be shared with other fans! This has always been one of my favorite scenes and your art just makes my day every time you upload! I can't tell enough people about how excited I am to see such a talented person do such a faithful tribute to my favorite books and can't thank you enough for taking your valuable time to put this out on such a regular basis. It's absolutely enchanting.
You're amazing and I love your work! Thank you for everything!
Ah! Good, go get yourself a good Starbucks with the download fee, hahaha. At least I hope that went to you and not just to the site! It’s a beautiful mix and I’m planning to use it over the next several pages, altering it as necessary.
Thanks so much for your enthusiasm! I needed it tonight.
Though it's easier said than done, never let external influences discourage you from a truly beautiful passion project like this, unless of course it is a legitimate cease and desist order - then just keep it secret and to yourself. :) It may go against your nature as an artist not to express yourself and share it, but at least it would "get it out" and ease some of the frustration.
Life rarely cooperates with our plans, but as long there is life there is hope, so don't give up. :)
Oh, it’s nothing too awful - just periodic burnout, and I set myself up for it a little by being, in spurts, prolifically creative and craving feedback and engagement at the same intensity level. Then if it seems “too slow” to trickle in, I crash. Slow and steady consistency would be better for me, but...like most artists, I’m a little manic-depressive in my approach!
I can certainly understand that, which is probably one reason I've never really produced much of anything to share. I've posted a little bit of fan fiction before, but it's been close to 10 years since I've done any writing and I've never posted any art (that I can recall, anyhow). I don't claim to be an artist or a writer though, so that's my excuse for being unproductive. :)
Too bad Fflewddur doesn't know any warp songs. Hey-oh!
(Zelda reference. . . . . . . . . . . I'll show myself out now.)
Wow you really listen to your audience - I really enjoyed the "Eilonwyism" and it's such a beautiful page. I love Eilonwy's expression, she's so hardened by life it's great to see a look of true wonder on her face.
I'm so sorry you've been discouraged, but I know I speak for many of us when I tell you how special it is to come to this site and see a lovely work of art based on one of my favorite stories. It always makes my day, it is truly uplifting. You have a very great talent and it is deeply appreciated, and if that appreciation is not always properly expressed, it is always there.
Thank you dear. I didn’t confess to discouragement to make anyone feel bad about /not/ engaging - and certainly those that have already responded, like yourself, are the most likely to keep me going with your encouragement and don’t need the reminder! I want you all to know how meaningful it is to me when you comment - on a project that has no other remuneration (besides personal satisfaction), the feedback is my only way of knowing that people enjoy and appreciate my work. It makes such a difference! Thank you for being one of the faithful.
Ellonwy is just beautiful in the last panel.
This comic series is amazing! The chronicles of Prydain are my favourite and I love how you have brought the story and characters to life.
I’m so glad to hear it! I’m on a short break just now on a family vacation, but stay tuned and I’ll be back to work at the end of June!
So love your work. I wish I was able to draw, but alas, I do stick figures. Enjoy your vacation.
He could play "With Catlike Tread." :P
I know on extra pages you can add the sound effect...but I'm not sure about individual comic pages. You should ask Kyo. I know someone else was asking about he music thing. You *may* have to add it though html...I know each page is editable.
But opening it from the link is also effective :3 Thanks for taking the time to share that!
It might be a possibility with a customized layout, but I'm not good enough with html to mess around with it. Plus some people find auto-playing soundtracks annoying, esp if reading in a public place, so I'd rather keep it optional anyway.
I love this whole page, but the last panel is so beautiful. Taran and Eilonwy are both so well done here in the firelight with the stars twinkling in the background.
I probably make both of them way too pretty after everything they’ve endured, but eh. They make me happy this way. :)
