Pages consisting largely of text bubbles and sound effects are quicker than pages with multiple art panels but not still as quick as I think they should be. This one was fun, though.
Oh man, you CANNOT pay me enough to get on Eilwony's bad side, even if she is just a kid. I know why Taran loves her, and I definitely would too in his place (frustrating though it may be), but being her enemy would royally suck, especially if she wasn't trying to kill you. :D
The visual humor that’s going to show up next page regarding the difficulty she poses has always been one of my favorite small details in the text.
Yes I always wondered how she managed to keep that sword...
This page has just the right feel to it, like reading this in the book for the first time. It's just as much fun to read, imagining the scuffling in the dark. :-)
They’re obviously not too terribly invested in disarming them, because in my mind the fae could magically kick your ass if they really want to, so it makes me laugh that they give up this fight so easily, like...oh, well, this is all a big sham anyway so why bother? Let’s not all get black eyes; just let Eiddileg deal with it. As he does, of course - effortlessly.
Well that is not promising.
That’s what they want you to think.
I mean . . . on the upside, they didn't kill them outright? If I were one of the companions, I would be encouraged at not being killed right now. Also because they didn't insist on taking the weapons. This was a fun page. :)
I feel like the FF are really just messing with them for fun, which would be totally consistent with faerie lore, though the bumbling incompetence implied by Eiddileg’s ranting isn’t. That’s just part of his cunning though.
....There is also the bauble, so they probably recognize Eilonwy for what she is right off. So maybe they are giving a little extra leeway and respect for that!
That is precisely what I thought. She's ... striking with her magical powers, whether she realized it or nay.
Good thought. That one did not occur to me, oddly enough. I always just figured she landed a lucky kick and happened to get a guy in the eye because of the height differential. But I like the idea of some extra involuntary magic at work. They’d be able to sense it.
Wow. I came up with an original that you approve of. I am in awe.
I revel in Nerdvanna for the time being. Then ... dinner.
It’s not unheard of. If this site had a “top fan” badge you’ve earned it.
Oh, I can't WAIT for the full reveal of the Fair Folk.
Let me guess who placed that kick. I think this time Taran may have approved of it.
