Another day in the life of Gwydion and Achren. There are fans who ship these two...can't imagine that relationship to be anything but rocky...
Yes, this is a ship that I just can't understand. Also, Achren needs to go take a relaxing summer vacation. I think all of that hard work being evil is starting to mess with her brain. Yeesh. Put down that sword Achren. Slowly.
Well, you know, when you are spending all your resources trying to find a lost spell book because the infant sorceress you kidnapped to use as your puppet can't unlock all the potential of her power without it, and meanwhile you are having to play nice to your traitorous ex-lover because he's got cauldron-born set up all around for your "protection" but is actually watching every move, the bulk of your power is gone and your grandeur is a sham to impress and intimidate visitors, and now the guy you hoped might be your ticket out of there has just scorned all the tricks that have ever worked on every other red-blooded man of your acquaintance...
Yeah. Evil, but perhaps not completely unsympathetic.
That . . . is a succinct and insightful summary of the character of Achren. Where does she get the Cauldron-born, anyway? Are they indicative of a continuing relationship with Arawn? If so, how can she expect to use them to build her power back, since they are doubtless tattling on her? Or are they leftovers from when Achren was queen and she controlled the Crochan? So many questions . . . so many possibilities for interesting backstory . . .
I think the CB are there to keep her under Arawn's control. She can pretend to be in charge but she is always being watched by him and you know that drives her bonkers. That's actually why I have her arms and waist wrapped in silver ropes - symbolic of the fact that she is bound.
I don't think she ever controlled the Crochan. The Morva trio mention that Arawn paid the price for it. They never mention her at all.
But yes - so much to muse about with Achren!
Of course, you're right about Arawn and the Crochan. I had forgotten that detail. But now I'm curious about what other visual details are intentionally symbolic in your art. (You've mentioned Taran & Eilonwy's eye/hair color, but I don't recall much beyond that.)
I've just got my new computer. Not being able to read the epicness of this was killing me. I just loved all the new pages. The only downside is now I caught up, back to one page a week, knowing that she's a coming.
Welcome back! Ai, yes, the slow updates are hard, I know...but we're almost there. Four more pages at most, and next week I'm hoping to double post.
Fans ship them? They are more like ex XD
I know right? No love lost between these two.
