Thanks! I usually have to really overthink lighting, but this scene makes it pretty simple. If there's only one source there's not much room for mistakes, ha.

It's truly a great example of stellar character introduction. You don't even get a physical description for several pages, but you get the gist of her personality in a few lines. It's fantastic.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN OUTSIDE THIS CASTLE or at least don't acknowledge the existence of lower classes.
My bet is still on murder.

I don't think it's so much that she's unaware of the existence of peasants as that peasants who draw Achren's hostile attention end up dead in very short order; the types of people (and creatures) she lists are just the types that are significant enough for Achren to lock up and keep alive for at least a time, instead of just killing them out of hand.
