Um, I mean drawing bewildered Taran, of course.

Yay! Hurrah! We finally get to see her! You've done such a great job! I LOVE her hair. Also, the backgrounds are super pretty. Weird question, but I've always though the bauble was a little bigger. How did you decide on what size to make it?

Practical reasons, mainly. She carries it around in some hidden "fold of her robes" (this is a period/fantasy trope that really amuses me; do you have any clothing that magically holds foreign objects within its folds?) which I interpret as a pouch or pocket. Anything much larger than, say, a racquetball just seems cumbersome to carry everywhere in that fashion. Also, I have a polished quartz sphere I use as the bauble in reference images when I need to see how hands fit around it, and that's it's size, so that's what comes out in the art.

I'm also influenced by the Jody Lee cover illustrations since those were the first edition I owned.

lol Not yet. Not for a while. He's mostly just terrified. That scene in Inside Out where all the little emotions are running and screaming GIRL...GIRL...GIRL.

Given that the last pretty female who was nice to him turned out to be a raving homicidal maniac, can't expect much more.

Wow... she's really lovely. Great job.

But I don't want to let her debut get in the way of my praise of Taran's wince when the bauble lights up. That's a great expression right there!

Ahh... If only I could learn to draw like you (without the pain of whatever many years you used to learn and practice of course, because that's what people mean when they say this).

All humor aside, I really wish I could draw pretty people like you do. Your light is also gorgeous, even though a lot of this comic happens in the dark.

That wing-sprouting thing was right there in the book and yet I never thought to make a Harry Potter reference in my head. I feel like my eleven-year-old self really fell down on the job here.

Well, her line is actually "turn into a bird and fly away?" so it's not quite as obvious; I changed it as a wink-and-nudge to Potter fans. You can forgive your inner child. ;)
