This could be a metaphor for much of their relationship...extended all the way to the end where she gives him a handful of light. :) <3 Gosh I love symbolism...

New girl came through! Achren's going to murder her!

Those hands in the last panel, though. Just fantastic. A lot of people have serious trouble drawing hands in that kind of position (upside down AND behind their back).

Also, the look of utter disdain in panel four just cracked me right up!

I can't honestly say hands don't give me a lot of trouble, but I go to great pains to get them right. I think they're as crucial as facial expressions as far as conveying thought and emotion - sometimes even more so. Looking back at old work, I can tell how much of a hurry I was in by looking at the hands. :P

He's going to get very used to that look.

Okay, this may sound ridiculous, but has Taran ever met a girl his age before? He never mentions it... I don't think.

Eilonwy's expression in panel 4 is priceless.

It's up for debate. He seems to have lived a sheltered life; the implication is that he's never left Caer Dallben. In my headcanon (which has had twenty years to percolate) there've been some visits, with Coll, to the occasional camp of nomadic people who dropped by now and then to trade, where he'd have briefly met and played with kids his age. But other than that, it seems safe to say he's entirely new to interaction with anyone his age since he hit adolescence, let alone a girl as...uh...aggressively forthcoming as Eilonwy. So there's several factors at play here.

Ah, man, me too. Fflewddur runs a close second to Eilonwy for me.

Just scrolling through the new pages forum and your art blew my socks right off! I love it and HAVE to read this whole thing as soon as I get home, even if it's just to look at the pretty pictures! I hope the story is good too, of course. I'm not familiar with your source, so it will be new to me.

You can't beat this story, man. Newberry award winning... But of course the genre has to be your cup of tea.

My artwork varies widely in quality because when I started this I had no idea what I was doing. I am starting to go back and re-do the old pages but that is a very slow process, so hope you can stand the inconsistency for now. Thanks so much for clicking through and I hope you enjoy it!

Taran looks more terrified here than when he was attacked by the gwythaints, battled the cauldron-born, or was brought before Achren. :D

His daydreams have prepared him for battle heroics, if poorly, but I don't think they've touched the topic of girls yet.

Be patient with him. He has been raised by two grown chaps on an isolated farmstead who occasionally received visits by more grown chaps - it may seem that he has never even met a girl or woman close-up before Achren. If he is a failure in terms of socializing, blame his peers for it!

You could almost remove the dialogue and still figure out what's going on.

Eilonwy: 0_0 !
Taran: ._. ...
Eilonwy: 0_0 ...
Taran: O.o ???
Eilonwy: -_- !!!
Taran: >_> ...
